Evaluations
Angie administers both English and Hebrew-based reading evaluations. She’s created her own in-house Hebrew reading screening tool that was inspired by the Qualitative Reading Inventory 6 (QRI).
Separately, she analyzes scores from neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations and provides psychologists, administrators, teachers, and parents with remediation strategies and support recommendations according to the reports' conclusions.
Translation of Neuropsychological and Psychoeducational Reports
Translation services of neuropsychological and psychoeducational reports are available. Angie is experienced in translating reports from Hebrew to English and vice versa. She's worked with evaluators from Israel and families interested in applying their children to schools in the NYC area.
English and Hebrew Tutoring
One-on-one tutoring is provided to support the development of reading, writing, vocabulary, second language (L2) and foreign language acquisition. Supports with executive functioning needs are also provided.
Hebrew Reading Instruction
Through an Orton-Gillingham method adapted from Preventing Academic Failure (PAF) and Wilson Reading System, Angie provides one-to-one explicit reading instruction to all ages.
Bnai-Mitzvah Preparation
Bar-mitzvah is a Jewish coming of age ritual for boys at the age of 13. Bat-mitzvah is a Jewish coming of age ritual for girls at the age of 12. As this time approaches, young adults are responsible for learning Jewish ritual law, tradition, and ethics, and prepare to participate in all areas of Jewish community life.
Angie works with modern Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, and secular families of all observance levels and sexual orientations. She has extensive experience in preparing for these ceremonies in the United States and Israel.
She provides thorough preparation for the coming-of-age ceremony and ensures success every step of the way. Students are familiarized with reading and understanding the blessings, reading from the Torah and Haftorah along with writing a meaningful Dvar Torah (speech).
Hebrew School at Home
The landscape of Jewish education is changing and Angie can provide an enriching experience that will connect you to your Jewish identity. Through a personalized setting, Angie can create an individualized curriculum focused on an array of topics, including history of the Jewish people, Israel's history, Jewish rituals and laws, and Tikkun Olam (repairing the world).
