Angie Yucht Swenson, M.S.Ed., Ed.M. is a learning specialist who focuses on English and Hebrew literacy instruction in New York City, Westchester and the Hamptons. She has extensive experience working with children and adults with a wide range of learning differences in both secular and Jewish settings. She specializes in serving students with language-based learning disabilities (LBLD), attention hyperactivity disorders (ADHD), executive functioning challenges and more. Angie is dedicated to working with families and students to reach their fullest potential both in and out of the classroom.
Angie's experience includes working as a classroom teacher, language specialist and a consultant for public, private and independent institutions. She currently serves in an administrative capacity as Hebrew Department Chair at a private Jewish day school for children with LBLD. She pioneered the school's multisensory Hebrew reading program and was a founding member of the Hebrew language team. Angie continues to work to identify best practices in teaching Hebrew to students with language-based learning disabilities. Over the course of her career, Angie was trained in a variety of Orton-Gillingham based programs, including: Wilson Reading System (WRS), Preventing Academic Failure (PAF) and Teaching Basic Writing Skills: The Hochman Method. Additionally, she has developed curricula, coached teachers on bilingual instruction, and conducted longitudinal research on identifying best practices for teaching Hebrew.
Angie has presented at several conferences and workshops, focusing on the use of language in the classroom, foreign and second language (L2) acquisition, and Hebrew reading interventions in LBLD populations. She is a bilingual English and Hebrew presenter with educational relationships across the United States and Israel.
Angie received her bachelor's degree in human development from Cornell University and a master’s degree in general and special education from Hunter College. She obtained her initial and professional New York State certifications (grades 1 - 6). Most recently, she completed her master of education degree in school leadership at Bank Street College of Education.
Angie is fluent in English, Hebrew and Russian.
